In this paper, the rheological behaviors of polymer (HPAM) solution in the process of seepage flow and the variation of rheological parameters along the seepage flow direction were investigated through experiments, the basic model about the variation of rheological parameters along the seepage flow direction was developed, the visco-elastic effect exhibited by polymer solution in high seepage flow velocity was discussed, and the equation calculating critical elastic flow velocity was constructed. Researches show that shears degradation of HPAM solution in low permeability rock is larger than that in high permeability rock, and the higher the injection velocity is, the more serious the shear degradation is. In the process of seepage flow, the rheological parameters vary along the seepage flow direction, the consistency coefficient decreases according to exponential law along the flow direction and the power law exponent increases according to linear rule. The visco-elastic effect is exhibited in high seepage flow rate. Based on the critical elastic flow rate, the dominant region of elastic effect can be calculated for real reservoir.
