Pumping technology provider Moyno recently updated its range of progressing cavity pump (PCP) systems and touted their applicability for challenging production scenarios, both on- and offshore.
Tri-Phaze System
Promising rapid payback for multiphase pumping applications, the patented Moyno Tri-Phaze progressing cavity system allows all fluids produced at the wellsite oil, water, and gas?to be transported simultaneously through one pipeline to a central processing station.
The system’s exceptional abrasion-resistance allows for smooth transfer of sandy fluid as well. The unit is capable of generating flow rates up to 60,000 BFPD with suction pressures up to 900 psi and discharge pressures up to 1,200 psi. The system also features a stator elastomer formulation that exhibits exceptional resistance to aromatics.

Efficient handling of gas void fractions up to 99%
Low-shear pumping action, which preserves each fluid’s characteristics without emulsification or degradation
Extended well production life
Decreased wellbore pressures
Moyno states that the Tri-Phaze’s low total cost of ownership and superior pumping efficiency have turned marginal wells profitable again in mere months.
PCPs for FPSO Applications
Moyno has also succesfully applied its PCP systems in upper- and lower-deck FPSO applications, reporting dependable performance and low maintenance.
Models are available that can generate flow rates up to 2,500 gal/min and pressures to 2,100 psi. Moyno pumps are well-known for low maintenance, dependability and long service life which result in low overall total cost of ownership in both topside and hull-side applications. Their high performance progressing cavity design results in a gentle, low shear, pulsation-less discharge.

PCPs for Heavy Oil Applications

The pumps reportedly provide a high degree of versatility, as they are capable of cost-effectively handling thick, abrasive, and corrosive heavy oils, even with viscosities over 1,000,000 cps.
Even in corrosive or abrasive service environments the pumps maintain peak efficiencies, minimal maintenance requirements, and extended service life through the application of Moyno’s proprietary Ultra-Flex stator elastomers and Ultra-Shield rotor coatings.
